Savernake Forest post installation for the Forestry Commission

The first task on our new Forestry Commission fence framework contract for the SW of England:  installing posts to prevent cars from being parked on the access roads in Savernake Forest.
The Forest stands on a Cretaceous chalk plateau between Marlborough and Great Bedwyn in Wiltshire; its area is approximately 4,500 acres.

See details of some of the other types of fencing work we undertake here.

Beech tree take down – when you put your man cave under a tree that is past its best…

Just outside Blandford in Dorset, the building crushed was a converted shepherd’s hut.  The tree was a very large beech which had looked unhealthy last year.

The poor access due to the weather conditions presented us with certain challenges. Although we had a lot of large timber to move, this was made easier with the timber crane, aka the Valtra tractor with the crane/grab on the roof.  The timber stayed locally for firewood.  All in a day’s work…

Here’s a link to the info about the Valtra.

A few minor running repairs to our Unimog on a Saturday

Just routine works, but the cab needed to be jacked up for access.

This is our Unimog with a woodchipper on the back with a 1.5-ton capacity.  So, who can remember the origin of this odd name?

“The Unimog is a range of multi-purpose auto four-wheel drive medium trucks produced by Mercedes-Benz, The word is an acronym for the German “UNIversal-MOtor-Gerät”, Gerät being the German word for a device (also in the sense of machine, instrument, gear, apparatus)”.   There, you needed to know that!

40 ha of scrub clearance underway for chalk grassland near Imber on Salisbury Plain

We’re using our Dymax tree shear to cut hawthorn and blackthorn.

And, once it’s cut, you have to get it collected up and burnt – so we’re making progress…

As you can see, there was plenty to burn.

Our new 25.6m Cherry Picker (MEWP)

Our new 25.6m Articulated Truck Mounted Platform/4×4 MAN truck has arrived and is available for hire should you need some extra height.

It has a huge outreach of some 12.5m and full details may be found on our website shortly.

Our shorter 14m cherry picker (the yellow one) is better for work in confined spaces where the lorry base of this new one would be too big.

Both are available for hire.
