Reducing a group of 5 poplar trees at Heywood House

Reducing a group of 5 poplar trees at Heywood House today. A two cherry picker day!!

Formerly National Trust, Heywood House in Westbury is now privately run as offices.

A group of trees in the main car park were reduced as they had become too high and the view across to Westbury White Horse was no longer visible from the offices !!

Removal of Asian Hornets nest in Hull

Removal of Asian Hornets nest in Hull today. The nest was treated on the previous day so no one was at home today!   Well done Liam Williams.

This was part of our contract with DERFA for pest and disease control – a random piece of work that sees us chasing non-native species across England to help them with control and removal in hard-to-reach positions.

We were in Plymouth earlier in the summer.

There’s this link with more information and an alert link if you think you have spotted a nest.

The Unlikely Cyclists – William’s TV interview

Very much out of my comfort zone being interviewed this morning.  This was for “That’s TV”  for the evening slot as a follow-up to The Unlikely Cyclists’ heroic fundraising effort for The Stars Appeal.

I even had to brush my hair on this occasion!

It was for “That’s TV” which is broadcast around Salisbury.  Only 1min 30 seconds…

24th August 2023

The total as at today, 2nd September, is £30,406.  Here’s the link to the Just Giving Page and more of William’s story and pictures.

The Unlikely Cyclists Cheque Presentation to The Salisbury Stars Appeal

Yesterday afternoon, Monday 7th August,  most of The Unlikely Cyclists went to Salisbury District Hospital to meet the staff on the Breast Cancer Unit and handed over a cheque for £30,056. Once the Gift Aid has been added this will take the total raised to over £35,000.  We were also given an insight into the work of The Stars Appeal.

A great effort by all of the team, yesterday – it made peddling in the wind and pouring rain all seem worthwhile!
